Am I the target audience for Bakehouse?
Our target audience includes resellers, advertising agencies, online marketers, PR agencies, tourism service providers, screen designers, as well as programmers and integrators who want to create websites quickly and easily for themselves and their customers.
What type of websites is Bakehouse suitable for?
Of course for everyone! The Bakehouse is suitable for both small and complex projects. You’d best take a look at some of our references. Our goal is to make the Bakehouse attractive to as many customer groups as possible. Therefore, we also offer discounted licences for clubs and non-profit organisations if needed. We’d be happy to provide you with more information!
What do I need to use the Bakehouse?
Since Bakehouse runs server-side, no installations are required and access to a Bakehouse instance can be gained from anywhere in the world. To ensure maximum stability and perfect usability, we have optimised the Bakehouse interface for WebKit browsers. We recommend that both resellers, integrators and editors use the latest version of Google Chrome or Apple Safari.
What prior knowledge do I need to work as an editor at Bakehouse?
No prior knowledge is required to populate Bakehouse pages. The process is similar to working with a desktop application. Employees and customers can quickly achieve results without having to learn TYPO3’s complicated user interface.
I’m a web designer and want to create websites for my clients. What do I need to know?
We are delighted to welcome you as a partner to our Bakehouse community. Registration for this is, of course, free of charge! With the Bakehouse Manager, you can manage your Bakehouse installations and their billing for your customers. You will, of course, be proficient in designing websites using HTML and CSS. For dynamic content, we have prepared a pool of extensions that can be easily integrated into a website without prior knowledge. Experience in JavaScript, PHP and Fluid is helpful for implementing complex pages, but not strictly necessary.
I work at an agency and need an overview of my projects. Is that possible?
As an agency, you’ll receive monitoring software (Bakehouse Manager) from us that clearly lists all your projects.
To what extent does the Bakehouse take search engine optimisation (SEO) into consideration?
The Bakehouse was developed in collaboration with search engine experts. All the essential features required for search engine optimisation are already built in. Thanks to the flexible template and TYPO3’s functions, you can easily integrate additional features yourself.
Will Bakehouse be further developed?
Of course, and how! Several times a year, performance updates and new features are provided for Bakehouse. The installation is automatic. Resellers are informed about changes to the software via newsletter. You can view the previous update history here.
Where is the Bakehouse located?
The Bakehouse runs on its own dedicated server infrastructure housed in a well-connected data centre. We place the highest value on top performance, data security and maximum uptime. The centralised structure also ensures that all Bakehouse instances are always up to date.
The Bakehouse is a 100% European product. All data remains within the EU. We have deliberately avoided using American servers and services.
Can I host my website myself?
Unfortunately not. The Bakehouse requires the server infrastructure we’ve built to function optimally. But that’s no drawback! Only this way can we guarantee that security and feature updates are continuously integrated. The included Bakehouse Manager gives you full control over all installations, and the Bakehouse licence also includes a comprehensive hosting package. We thus offer you an attractive all-in-one solution and are happy to find solutions for special cases!
How is the Bakehouse billed?
A Bakehouse installation is billed once a year. The first invoice is issued 14 days after the installation on our server. Extensions installed during the year are only billed for the remaining period until the next annual invoice. The Bakehouse invoice is sent by email. You can view the invoice history at any time in the Bakehouse Manager.
Does the Bakehouse have access statistics?
Every Bakehouse page features the powerful analytics software Matomo Analytics. As an agency, you can manage all your projects and accesses in your own Matomo account.
What do I need to know about TYPO3?
TYPO3 is currently a popular free content management framework in the German-speaking world, used an estimated 500,000 times worldwide. We recommend that integrators and developers familiarise themselves with the basics of TYPO3. In particular, the TYPO3-internal configuration language TypoScript should be mastered by Bakehouse developers. The most important basics are, of course, described in the Bakehouse tutorial.
Are there any restrictions compared to a classic TYPO3?
Bakehouse pages must remain hosted on our servers to receive feature and security updates. Content maintenance is carried out entirely in the Bakehouse frontend. Otherwise, there are no restrictions compared to classic TYPO3. Existing extensions can also continue to be used.
What if I want to terminate my Bakehouse contract?
A Bakehouse can be cancelled at any time. Please note that invoices that have already been issued cannot be cancelled. Unfortunately, it is also not possible to refund payments already made on a pro-rata basis. We will be happy to provide you with your entire website created in the Bakehouse as static HTML (including images, CSS, etc.). Forms, shop, etc. will lose their functionality. You can find more information in the terms and conditions.
